How Your Own Wise Mind Can Help You Transform Your Problems and Heal Your Life

The Wise Mind is one aspect of your higher mind. Other aspects are love, peace, light, and compassion. The Wise Mind is a part of the superconscious, and everyone has the capacity to experience it when the conscious mind becomes quiet. The Wise Mind is the voice of the Universal Self as it speaks through you. Read on to find the question you ask to put the Wise Mind into action.

First, it's important to know that there are various levels of mind or consciousness. In addition to the superconscious state, there is also the subconscious mind in which all of our experiences are stored, as if it were a library or a vast database that chronicles everything that has ever happened in our lifetimes. There is also the conscious mind, known as everyday waking consciousness.

Most of our ills are caused by a lack of connection with all parts of our being, including the superconscious state; yet everyone has the ability to make this contact. The only things in the way for some people are the blinders that they wear that prevent them from even looking. These blinders are doubt, ignorance, inner darkness, emotional chaos, or the myriad of traumas and wounds that keep people from looking toward the inner gifts.

What Can the Wise Mind Tell You?

The Wise Mind is crucially important to the healing process because it can shift your view of your own reality. Doing this can lift you out of dark places and misconceptions in a matter of moments. The "Wise Mind" is the higher faculty of advanced consciousness, wisdom, or guidance that is innate in the human organism. Through it, you bring forth experiences that arise from an inner source. "What would my Wise Mind tell me about this?" is a life-altering question. Perhaps your Wise Mind would like to tell you what an entire experience in your life has meant to your growth. It may show you an answer to a dilemma. It may give you ancient wisdom to put your own situation in perspective. It may show you a way of living your life that puts you on a more fruitful path.

The Medicine that Exists Inside

Like the ancient ones, we too acknowledge that there is an inner "medicine" that we can find within ourselves. We can find answers in the deep resources of our inner mind. We recognize the wealth of information that lies in the Wise Mind, and we can honor what comes forth as the rich material of our healing process. In this sense, we are our own priest-physicians.

Brilliant Answers Can Come

Every human being is equipped with an inner source of wisdom. When you ask yourself, "What would my Wise Mind tell me about this?" a brilliant answer might emerge from the depths of your consciousness. While it's good to look in books to find precedents for healing one issue or another, there's another place you can go. It's not the library. It's not the Internet. It's the great temple of healing that lies at the core of your own inner world. Each time that we make this connection is an opportunity for an experience of the divine.

How to Stay Motivated in Keeping Fit

Staying focus and determined in is one of the most important criteria towards keeping fit. People often give up halfway towards keeping fit when they lost focus and determination . At times like this, we will need to give ourselves that additional motivational force to encourage ourselves to be back on the right track once again.

With that in mind, I present you the top motivational tips used by most trainers to keep them motivated all the time:

1) Find a partner

Find someone who has the same burning passion as you towards fitness to be your fitness and diet partner. Give positive encourage to each other along the way . In this way, you won't give up too easily towards reaching your goal.

2) Set your goals

Set realistic goals that can be achieved in a certain time frame. Your goal can be ranging from simple goals like reduce carbohydrates intake for 1 month to more difficult goals like keeping to your fitness diet for 1 month. Many often give up halfway due to lack of goal setting. They often find themselves training aimlessly and overtime, they will lose motivation towards working out and give up.

3) Treat yourself

After you have achieved a certain goal within your stipulated time frame, reward yourself .Buy yourself a new pair of running shoes. Pamper yourself for that day by treating yourself a sumptuous meal of your favorite food. If you have been following religiously to your fitness diet all the while, a day of self-indulgence won't do serious harm to your body. However, restrict yourself to only one day and leave your next happy moments for your next reward day.

4) Take A Break

Feeling tired and exhausted from your workouts ? Well, give your muscles a break then ! Your muscles need to rest in order for them to grow significantly.Improvements in strength and fitness will only occur during the rest period after your hard training. This resting process takes at least 12-24 hours to complete. If sufficient rest is not given to your muscles, then complete regeneration cannot occur.

5) Music

Equip yourself with a portable music player and immerse yourself in your favorite music. But of course, if hard rock music is your favorite genre of music, listening to linkin park's song while working out is definitely not going to be beneficial for you. You will tend to follow the beat of the music and this will seriously affect the momentum of your workouts. Go for smoothing classical music to allow your heart and mind to be at peace while working out.

6 ) Think positively

The main reason why people often fail in keeping fit is because they always think negatively about working out. Even before starting the workouts, they are already thinking of the tiredness and sweat that the workouts will bring about and this negative thinking will deter them .The end result? They won't even want to start the workout anymore . Yes, working out is tiring and will indeed cause you perspiring like hell. However, the results are definitely worth all the sweat and hard work with you slowly chiseling your body towards a model-like body after every single workout. Therefore, the next time when you are about to start your usual exercise routine, think positively about the workouts. Overtime, you will find working out to be a fun-filling activity rather than a strenuous activity.

7) Take a before picture

Take a picture every now and then to monitor closely how your exercises are helping you to sculpture your body. For example, you could take photos of your body bi-weekly and compare week 1 photos with week 3 photos and so on. If you have been following closely to your effective workout routines and your fitness diet, you should be able to observe visible results to your body every fortnightly. These visible results will keep you stay motivated towards achieving your fitness goal.

Healing Guidance - When it Looks Like There's No Choice

Amber is at her wit's end and feeling awful. What a headache! Her boss is driving her nuts! As if that wasn't enough, her job is impossible. Sure things are tight, but how can ONE person (her) reasonably be expected to do THREE people's jobs? Her own, of course. Plus two more that just got cut from her department.

The stress is affecting everything. She has to go in early just to get a jump on the day. Fortunately, her mother-in-law can help out with the kids, but they don't like to take advantage. Things are tense at home in the evenings, too. Amber knows she's not as patient as she used to be. And everyone's getting tired of frozen burritos or chicken nuggets for supper -- even the kids!

Amber, while frustrated, is also pretty sharp. She knows this situation is taking a toll on her family relationships and her own health. She's not sleeping well, nobody is eating right, the muscles in her back and neck are in big knots, and she's taking a lot of aspirin for the headaches. That's giving her a stomach ache. And, well, the situation just isn't good.

"But what can I do?" she thinks. "I'm just stuck in this horrible situation and there's no way out. We need the income from my job. I'll never find anything else with the job market the way it is right now! I just don't have a choice. I've just gotta deal with it."

Let's stop for a minute and breathe. We'll hope Amber does the same. After all, this article is about solutions! (The problems are obvious enough to everyone.)

Now let's brainstorm. Amber, in her stressed-out state, is having a little trouble seeing options for herself. Yet we can see them clearly enough, can't we? "You always have a choice, Amber!" I can hear the cheerleader in you kicking in. Yes, she most certainly does. In fact, a person in Amber's position always has at least three options.

  1. First, Amber can try and make her current situation better. After those deep breaths, she should be able to think more clearly. If she's stressed by the situation herself, chances are pretty good that her boss is feeling the pressure, too. Why not ask for a meeting to prioritize her tasks? A reasonable boss would understand that Amber is an excellent producer that he doesn't want to lose. Much better to help her manage her workload.
  2. Assuming that doesn't go well, there is always the option of finding another job. Amber says she "knows she'll never find anything else with the job market as it is," but she hasn't actually looked. There's no such thing as a bad time to find work when you have exactly the combination of skills & characteristics that someone else is looking for. Perhaps she'll enter a different field, or even begin to think like an entrepreneur. There are always options.
  3. Finally, Amber could choose to do nothing. She'll continue to feel stressed, her health and relationships will continue to suffer, and she'll most likely be miserable. However she does have the right to exercise this option if she wishes. And let's hope she doesn't kid herself that she was "trapped" into it. We can see clearly enough that she's not.

Occasionally, people in a position like Amber's overlook the obvious options and instead get themselves hung up on feeling that it isn't fair they should have to change, when it appears that the "problem" was not their fault to begin with. They'll refuse either of the first two options on principle. Well, that is their right. It is also a recipe for suffering, poor relationships, and ill health.

Life's grandest opportunities come out of situations exactly like the one Amber is in today. You didn't necessarily plan to get into the situation in which you find yourself. Yet here you are. If your current situation really isn't working, how could you go wrong by trying something different?

"Listen carefully, Amber," we might want to offer. "Hear the healing guidance. That feeling that something's not right means it's time to choose differently. Listen well, for yourself and your family."

Natural Healing - Problem Solving 102

It's often suggested that a peaceful and confident demeanor is integral to optimal health. That so long as you're churning on the inside about something in your life that isn't working out so well, your body will not have the energy with which to conduct its business efficiently.

Certainly that principle applies in terms of posture, the aspect of health where, as a body worker, I have the most direct experience. Why just this morning, a fellow came in with back pain. I've known Dan for a number of years, and he's had back pain the entire time. He is now disabled from work due to back pain. So he's dealing with a chronic pain problem, drawing less income than he would have had without it, and feeling a bit like he's lost his identity as the backbone of the family.

Nice guy! But he'd really rather not have to deal with the back pain. He'd rather be working.

Unfortunately, Nice Guy Dan has issues with his posture. He also has issues in his life. For as long as I've known him, Dan has been a low-energy guy. Always seems like he's carrying the world on his shoulders. Dan sags. He doesn't have the energy to maintain his posture against gravity. That, combined with a whole lot of heavy lifting, has taken a toll on his back.

Dan needs to get his life back. To muster some excitement for living. To dig himself out of the "impossible conflict" that's dragging him down -- body, mind, and spirit. Now our Dan is actually a great problem-solver in some areas of his life. But he doesn't see that part so well. What he sees when he looks around is the stuff that's gone wrong.

Let's help him out. Here's what you do, Dan!

Step 1: Clearly identify the situation that isn't working out the way you'd like it to. Let's call it "interpersonal conflict in the family."

Step 2: Flip the situation and identify the solution you'd like to see. Something like this: "Everyone in the family respects one another and communicates openly. We have fun together!"

Step 3: Work out a strategy to make it happen. This is the part that makes Dan's brain go "tilt." It looks impossible. Nobody listens to him. His family doesn't value his opinions. He can't buy into their dysfunctional ways. He feels stuck between the proverbial rock and the hard place. It seems hopeless.

Now let's think about this. If you really wanted to find a solution that seemed "almost" impossible -- yet at the deepest level of your being you knew it wasn't -- what would you do? Dan wants a satisfying life. Is that really too much to ask? No. It's not. And some part of him knows it. There are three approaches we can take to get to the bottom of this.

  1. "Dan, I know you don't have the solution worked out. But you say you want to have more joy in your life. If you did know how to make that happen, what might you try...?"

It's amazing to see that when you affirm that you just don't know how to make it happen, that takes the pressure off your mind to produce the perfect answer. Free from the burden of perfection, your mind can wander carelessly into the realm of, "well what the heck do I know, but if I did..." and come back with some grand insights.

  2. "Dan, why don't you explain exactly why you cannot have what you want? Spell it out in full detail. Be your most convincing. Explain why everyone else has the right and ability to pursue the life they want, but you are so very special that you do not."

The average person, at the beginning, will begin by rattling off something about how their family of origin had issues. And perhaps it did. But eventually, if they keep going long enough (if you're doing this on your own, use a journal and be prepared to keep writing a while), they'll get to the point where they blurt out something like this: "Darn it anyway! There is no good reason why I can't have as decent a life as the next guy! There just isn't! I deserve it, too!"

The human spirit will triumph. We have an innate self-responsibility to do everything in our power to make our lives work out. Ultimately, if pressed, we'll get to the point where we see that. So will Dan.

  3. "Dan, next why don't you suggest at least twelve different things you might try to bring more connection and understanding into your home environment?"

"Twelve!" he's likely to respond. "I can't even think of one!"

Funny thing is that twelve ideas are easier to come up with than one. When you think you've only got one shot at it, your brain tells you it's gotta be perfect. When you're free to spit out any crazy thing that crosses your screen, perfection goes out the window. Your creative mind takes over. And it starts churning out the ideas.

Try it! Whenever I play the 12 game (ok, you can go higher if you want to), it seems like the first half-dozen trials are kind of like a warm-up. Not my best. But get into #10, #11, #12 and you start to come up with the GOOD STUFF!

Dan is not doomed. He can get his energy back. He probably won't go back to that job, but he can certainly create a meaningful life for himself. I'm really looking forward to seeing him walk through the door at his full height and stature, chuckling. He can do it. So can you.

Take the time to nurture your problem-solving skills. The state that psychologists call "Self-Efficacy" (belief in your ability to handle whatever challenges life may present) is one of the best ways to keep your energy in the "live" zone, nurture your immune system, and maintain your full height and authority. Try it! And if your back pain should happen to improve, just think of it as a happy coincidence.

Healing Guidance - How to Connect

Mind-body healing relies on your ability to make one crucial connection -- aligning with your natural healing spirit. Perhaps, like Nancy, you're frustrated by your attempts to connect with your inner wisdom and higher guidance. Maybe it seems like "nobody's listening." Relax. There are a few simple things you can do right now to tune in.

Nancy was frustrated. "I keep asking for guidance," she said. "But I just don't seem to get anything."

"I ask and ask." she continued. "It feels like like nobody's listening."

Perhaps you've felt the same way. As we talked, I asked Nancy about her process. "How do you ask the questions?" I prodded. "And what do you ask?"

Nancy was definitely on the right track.

  • She had established a regular time for her inner work, and she showed up consistently.
  • She picked a time when her mind was fresh and uncluttered from the day's adventures -- first thing in the morning, before she got dressed for work.
  • And she had found a way of relaxing into a connection with higher wisdom that suited her belief system and values.

All she really needed was a little tweak in the question department. This became clear as she proceeded to describe what happened next.

"After getting myself relaxed and protected," she said, "I begin asking questions."

I encouraged her to share some examples, which she did freely.

  • "What is my right path in life?"

  • "What foods should I eat for good health?"

  • "Is there anything special my body needs right now?"

  • "How can I increase abundance so I can afford all the health practices I think would be good for me?"

As Nancy continued, I could get a sense of what must have been going on. She'd sit down with the intention of receiving, and yet her mind was stuck in "broadcast" mode. It was one question after the next, all in the same session. This is where we started our tweak.

"Sometime before you sit down for your quiet time," I suggested, "Write out one specific question to work with for that day. Just one. Writing it down forces you to be clear on your focus and priority. It firms up the question in your mind. If you're taking quiet time first thing in the morning, the ideal time to fashion your question is the evening before. This gives your unconscious mind the opportunity to start early, even while you sleep. Make the question short enough to remember easily."

"When you actually get to your quiet place, refresh the question once in your mind and then let it go. Focus on your breathing. Allow yourself the space in which to receive."

Nancy seemed to breathe a little easier already. She could see that she'd started out well, and with just a little tweaking, it probably wouldn't be all that difficult to improve her results. There was just one more piece to the puzzle.

"But how do I recognize the guidance when it comes?" she asked. "I just don't seem to get anything at all!"

She'd asked a great question. In the next article, we'll explore how to recognize inner guidance.

Healing Guidance - How to Recognize the Answer

Mind-body alignment and health has at its core one extremely important skill -- tuning in to your spirit's guidance in order to make empowered and proactive choices. This is the guidance that tells you whether to pick the salad or the burger; aerobics or yoga; TV or a walk; massage or acupuncture; forgiveness or revenge.

Nancy was settling in to her "inspired guidance" routine quite nicely. So far, she'd gotten a great start.

  • She had a regular time and place for connecting with inner guidance.
  • She'd identified a time when her mind was naturally relaxed -- for her, first thing in the morning.
  • She'd adopted a routine for relaxing and protecting herself.
  • She'd learned to focus on one specific question at a time, relaxing easily to receive her answers.

"But I still don't get much." Nancy concluded tiredly. "It seems like this is going nowhere."

"Don't worry," I continued. "We've still got a few more tweaks."

The next thing we talked about was expectation. Nancy didn't have a lot of confidence in her ability to receive and recognize inspired guidance. She couldn't yet point to an array of successful experiences; she was still in the newbie zone. The truth of the situation began to reveal itself. Nancy expected to fail.

A bit of faith can help immensely in this situation. My advice to Nancy was simple. "Assume that your heartfelt question has been heard and answered. It's just a matter of recognizing the form of the guidance."

Think about it this way. You send an important email to a friend. Your friend receives the email and replies back. Except at the present moment, you're at the grocery store with no access to electronics. You won't be able to read the reply until you get home and flip on the computer. But you're not worried -- your friend always answers. It'll surely be there!

Receiving inspired guidance works very much the same way. If you assume that your acquaintance didn't reply, you might not even check right away -- why bother? If you fret and stew about not being able to access the message, it becomes all that much the harder. But if you adopt the quiet faith that your friend will surely be there for you, it'll be no problem at all to log into your account and connect.

"If you think you haven't gotten any answers before it's time to come out of your quiet time and begin the day," I suggested, "Then take a few minutes at the end to jot down on paper anything that might come to mind. Sometimes as you reflect, you'll recognize an idea, feeling or thought that you hadn't otherwise been aware of."

"If you still don't see anything, then keep your awareness open throughout the day. Ask the same question again the next morning. Don't be afraid to ask for clear and obvious guidance!"

"Now let's explore your situation a little further. Exactly what question have you been asking?"

Nancy didn't hesitate. "The most pressing thing I need to know right now is where to go next in my life. I'm just not sure I'm doing the right thing. It's really stressing me out! So I ask to be shown my path. I just keep asking and asking."

As Nancy continued, she described a recurring vision she'd been having. She saw herself clearly in a particular setting. She described it in vivid detail: the sun streaming in through the window, the flooring material she felt beneath her feet, the layout of the building, and so on. "I just can't see how to make it happen!" she exclaimed.

Obviously, we were getting somewhere. Nancy had vividly described the guidance she'd received in answer to her question. She was really close. In fact, her question had been answered quite clearly. Her vision was the answer she'd asked for.

"But how do I do it?" Nancy pressed. "I just can't see!"

"Well..." I continued, and I had to chuckle at this one... "That's an entirely different question!"

"Oh brother!" Now Nancy was chuckling, too. She could see that she really had gotten the answer to the question she'd asked. And it was time to move on to the next one.

Energy Healing For Busy People

In today's society of working moms, busy schedules and endless responsibilities, it's no wonder people of all races, nationalities and walks of life are seeking ways to receive energy healing for their minds, bodies and spirits in ways that will fit into their busy schedules.

Remote or Long Distance Energy Healing is just one form of healing modality that many people find powerfully effective and have come to rely on when trips to workshops or 2 hour phone sessions just won't work with meals to cook and children to tend to and business meeting that cannot be rescheduled.

Energy Healing Sessions done in a remote fashion offer another added benefit that many people tend to overlook. And that is the fact that when you are physically or consciously present while healing is taking place, the physical mind has a tendency to focus on all the things going wrong that require healing, or perhaps they are nervous or afraid. All of which are lower frequency vibrations that make receiving healing much harder and in some cases downright impossible.

During remote healing sessions, the practitioner is communicating with you Spirit to Spirit, Higher Self to Higher Self. Which is to say that the practitioner is helping you to help yourself without you getting in the way!! You see, the conscious mind is a powerful creator, and also a great saboteur of manifesting your desires depending on just where you choose to spend time focusing that beautiful mind of yours. Every one of your thoughts create and then manifests here in the physical. So the more you discuss, share and complain about all the things you don't like in the world, your life or your workplace, the more you will get to experience exactly that because each time you focus on it and give it emotion, good or bad, it will be created again and again until you change what thoughts you allow yourself to entertain. What feelings you choose to feel, and what beliefs you still choose to carry and live by.

Energy Healing can assist you in so many ways, from remembering how to heal yourself and receive higher guidance, to helping you clear your energy body of old fears, programs and beliefs that keep you from manifesting your desires and live a joyous healthy life.

You have the ability to heal yourself, to communicate freely with your Higher self, your Angels, Guides and Mother/Father God and to receive guidance that is for your highest good! You just have to remember how. For in truth, you have always been able to do these things and more, for you are a multidimensional being of Pure Divine Light and have access to all the Energy Healing you need if you dare to look inside your heart and follow the guidance within you to remember your truth.

The good news is that you no longer have to deal with low energy levels, ill health and negative energy within your body due to a busy schedule. Remote Energy Healing is a powerfully effective and convenient way to receive all the assistance you are guided to receive for a happier, healthier more beautiful you in a way that is perfect for you and your needs.

Vegetarianism - Its Role in Mental and Spiritual Development

It is common to cite the advantages that a vegetarian diet bring to a person's physical well-being, but relatively little attention has been given to the role of the vegetarian diet in the realm of mental and spiritual development. I would like to share my perspective on this issue.

1) Toxic build-up does not only affect intestines, arteries, kidneys, liver and other organs -- it also is bound to affect the nervous system, which is directly related to the functions of the brain. Therefore toxicity is bound to hinder the individual's capacity to react appropriately to all sorts of external and internal stimuli. Toxicity also must dull one's efforts to concentrate and to contemplate.

2) Many people believe that the only exhaustion a person may experience is physical body-tiredness. Usually, however, when an individual becomes depressed or confused, by resting or sleeping he or she again feels mentally rejuvenated and clear. Due to physical struggle our bodies develop, and due to mental struggle our minds develop. When that struggle becomes excessive in quantity or duration, then the mind begins desiring to enter into the non-conscious condition during which it rests and gets energy by merging in the unconscious-mind. Poor physical health exhausts the body, destroys the effectiveness of our resting periods, and thus certainly creates an environment in which it is difficult for the mind to rest, in which case the mind's development becomes stunted.

3) Usually yogis explain to their students that the physical and mental exercises of yoga and meditation are closely related with glandular hormonal secretions, i.e. to increasing, decreasing or balancing the activities of the glands. They therefore encourage students to be vegetarian so that they may better control their glands, and thus better control their minds. Over thousands of years of experimentation yogis found that different foods differently affect the glands, and have categorized them accordingly. (A categorized list follows later.)

4) The same yogis teach that lighter food is easier for digestion, and thus is generally better for meditation or for any other brain work.

5) One's ability to concentrate or meditate depends to a large extent on the mental strength derived from following one's conscience. The evils of meat-eating include environmental destruction, harm to one's own body, the immorality of unnecessarily killing innocent conscious animals, and helping to maintain a global economic imbalance due to the rich nations over-consumption of the expensive foods: meat, fish and eggs.

The conclusion of the yogis regarding the effect of foods on the mind and body is contained in the following well-known list:

SENTIENT FOODS (good for both body and mind): fruit, most vegetables, grains, beans, milk products, nuts, apple vinegar, honey, sugar (in small quantity)

MUTATIVE FOODS (if taken in small quantity neither harmful nor helpful): coffee, tea, caffeinated drinks (like colas), brown chocolate, kelp, brewer's yeast, hot spices

STATIC FOODS (bad for body or mind or both): meat, fish, eggs, onion, garlic, mushroom, mustard greens, alcohol, tobacco, narcotics and many drugs

The yogis explain that the static foods which are harmful to the mind cause disturbance to the three lowest psycho-spiritual energy centers, called "chakras". The main chakras are usually categorized as being seven in number, and are related to physical glands. The hormonal secretion of each of the glands affects various human emotions and instincts which are either beneficial or harmful to mental balance and development. The relationship is as follows (the list of emotions is only partial to avoid complication):

When the static foods heat up the three lowest chakras the mind's balance and concentration is directly disturbed. As a result, both mental and spiritual progress are sharply hindered.

The yogis teach that monks and nuns should eat only sentient foods. Family people should likewise prefer sentient food, but they may consume small amounts of mutative food if they so wish. Everyone should strictly avoid static foods except when compulsorily required for medicinal purpose or in conditions where starvation would otherwise result.

Considering that onion and garlic are generally praised as body cleaners, one may wonder why they are categorized as static. These two foods are affective as cleaners because they are mildly poisonous to the body. When the body tries to quickly reject them, usually other negative elements may be simultaneously expelled. This is not a good method because it causes a large amount of internal heat to be created in the area of the lower glands. It is far better, rather it is positively helpful, to use lemon water or apple cider vinegar in small quantity mixed with water to clean the body. These two sentient cleaners increase alkalinity and help the over-active glands to cool down.

Very little has so far been done in physical laboratories to examine these yogic teachings. On the other hand, as previously mentioned, for thousands of years the relationship of food with mental and spiritual development has been the matter of experimentation by countless individuals working with their own bodies and minds. We may hope that such objective examination is done in the near future. It will be a great service to humanity to clarify these fundamental principles. In the meantime, however, any individual may try for himself or herself, and see the results within a matter of a few weeks.

As such information cannot be objectively justified, we may refer to the large number of famous persons who personally analyzed the relation of food with the body and mind and decided to be vegetarian. The list of such famous people who have publicized their preference for vegetarianism is long indeed. The fact that such highly developed personalities were vegetarian is in itself a statement of the intimate relationship between a subtle diet and a subtle mind. To finish this article I quote a few of these famous people.

Benjamin Franklin, one of America's foremost leaders in physical science, ethics, social movement and many other fields, became a vegetarian when he was 16 years old. From his diet Franklin understood "greater progress, from that greater clearness of head and quicker apprehension." He called flesh-eating "unprovoked murder."

The French philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau said that as meat-eating animals are by nature much more violent than herbivores, so the vegetarian diet generally produces more compassionate people. He even suggested that butchers not be allowed to testify in court or sit on juries.

Because the great Greek mathematician Pythagoras was a vegetarian, so the vegetarian diet is sometimes called the Pythagorean system. He said, "The earth affords a lavish supply of riches, of innocent foods, and offers you banquets that involve no bloodshed or slaughter; only beats satisfy their hunger with flesh." Pythagoras was known to even pay fishermen to throw their catch back into the ocean.

The essence of a strong mind is to follow one's conscience, or in other words to be consistent with one's beliefs. The poet Shelley pointed out that a meat-eater cannot have a strong mind because he is not consistent with his deeper feelings. He said, "Let the advocate of animal food force himself to a decisive experiment on its fitness, and as Plutarch recommends, tear a living lamb with his teeth and, plunging his head into its vitals, slake his thirst with the steaming blood....then, and then only, would he be consistent."

One of the world's greatest physicists, Albert Einstein, said, "The vegetarian manner of living, by it's purely physical effect on the human temperament, would most beneficially influence the lot of mankind."

The great Renaissance painter, inventor, sculptor and poet Leonardo da Vinci wrote about meat-eaters, "He who does not value life does not deserve it." He said that the bodies of meat-eaters are nothing other than "burial places", graveyards for the animals they eat.

Even Adam Smith, the propounder of free-market capitalism, was a vegetarian. He said, "Grain and other vegetables, with the help of milk, cheese, and butter, or oil, where butter is not to be had, afford the most plentiful, the most wholesome, the most nourishing, and the most invigorating diet."

The Russian author Leo Tolstoy said that by killing animals is "simply immoral," and that by doing so "man suppresses in himself, unnecessarily, the highest spiritual capacity -- that of sympathy and pity towards living creatures lilkle himself -- and by violating his own feelings becomes cruel."

Most Christians believe that their meat-eating is proper because they think that Jesus ate meat. Here we are faced with a trick of translation just to befool people, causing widespread misunderstanding for these 2000 years. Nowhere in the original Greek manuscripts of the Bible is there any reference to Jesus eating meat or encouraging others to eat meat. The words that have been translated as "meat" are such Greek words as "trophe, brome, and phago," which simply mean "food" or "eating". The Greek word for "meat or flesh" is "kreas", which is never used in relation to Christ. Understanding this point, many of the early Christian saints were vegetarian, including St Jerome, St John Chrysostom and St Benedict. Also many early Christian fathers like Clement of Alexandria ate no meat.

Today many Buddhists including even monks and nuns are eating non-vegetarian diets. This is the height of irony when one considers that one of the main thrusts behind the first spread of Buddhism was as reaction to the widely accepted practice of animal slaughter. By and large Buddha stopped this evil by preaching the doctrine of nonviolence.

Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw, who became a vegetarian at an early age, even though many doctors warned him that the diet would finally kill him. When he was an old man, he was asked why he did not go back and show them what good it had done him. He replied, "I would, but they all passed away years ago." Once someone asked him how it was that he looked so youthful. "I don't," Shaw answered. "I look my age. It is the other people who look older than they are. What can you expect from people who eat corpses?" On the relationship between flesh-eating and violence, Shaw wrote:

We pray on Sundays that we may have light
To guide our footsteps on the path we tread;
We are sick of war, we don't want to fight,
And yet we gorge ourselves upon the dead.

H.G. Wells wrote about vegetarianism becoming the only way of life in his vision of a future world in "A Modern Utopia". He wrote, "I can still remember as a boy the rejoicings over the closing of the last slaughterhouse."

Though the realization of Wells' vision still looks far away, in one way any meat-eater can bring about the end of the slaughterhouse today itself. Because today every house in which flesh is eaten is just like a mini-slaughterhouse. All the humane loving creatures, be they animals, plants or humans pray that a change will come in the meat-eating humans. They pray that those meat-eaters, whose digestive systems squirm with the extreme unnaturalness of their barbaric habit, will embrace the lifestyle based on fruits, vegetables and other natural elements. And each time even one barbaric human opts for becoming civilized and shutting down his or her own personal slaughterhouse -- the world rejoices.

Healing Guidance - Fine-Tuning Your Question

Mind-body wellness relies on a spiritual piece, too. You've got to be able to tune into healing guidance. Most people figure out pretty quickly that this involves asking questions and then becoming aware of the reply. Yet sometimes we're seemingly foiled. It feels like nobody's listening. The answer just doesn't reveal itself in a form we can perceive. Sometimes, the problem is in the question. Today, we'll do a little trouble-shooting.

Your problem is simple enough. You've been asking and asking. Same question, over and over. Nothing's coming through. Consider this as you form the question itself:

Does the question you're asking really lead the answer you want to receive?

This is one of the most common things that messes us up. The question isn't worded quite right. Here are two examples and possible fixes:

Sara was ready for a health make-over. At 26, she was already having trouble keeping up with the other people in her life. She dreaded the sight of a public stairway, because she knew she'd be the last one up, huffing and puffing the whole way. And unbelievably, at her last doctor's appointment, she'd been put on blood pressure meds. Expensive! That was a real wake-up call.

So she started in with her question: "What should I do to improve my health?"

The answer came back clearly. "Lose weight." But Sara discounted it. "I already know that," she'd say. "I need a real answer."

And then she'd ask again. The same question, with the same results. Sara was getting frustrated. This was going nowhere.

Principle #1: If you already know the answer to the question you're asking, dig deeper. You need a different question! Perhaps Sara could try one of these instead:

  • What one new habit could I cultivate to make the biggest positive difference in my weight?

  • What's the best resource I can enlist for support in sticking with a healthy food and exercise plan?

  • How can I get past the thinking patterns that have tripped me up before when I tried to lose weight?

Sara got the insight to begin including more fresh fruits and vegetables in her diet. She'd noticed before that when she filled herself up with fresh foods, she wasn't as hungry for calorie-rich snacks later in the evening. Now she was beginning to feel encouraged. "Maybe I can do this after all," she thought. "There are lots of fruits and vegetables I like."

Sara had also been doing her reading. She had a great idea. "I'll go to the grocery store and just browse," she continued. "I'll pick up a certain food and see if I can get a feel for if I should eat it or not. We'll make a little game out of it! This might even turn out to be fun!"

At the grocery store, Sara began her experiment. She'd pick up a food she knew was probably good for her and ask the question, "Should I eat this?" Then she'd go to another food she knew it was better to avoid and ask the same question, "Should I eat this?" In theory, Sara figured, she should be able to tell the difference.

Only thing was, it wasn't as clear as she'd hoped. Her mind "knew" that the lettuce was better for her than the chips. But she wasn't getting a big difference on the answers. "What could be going on here?"

Do you see what Sara just did? She just asked herself a really great question. "What could be going on here?" She's about to figure this out for herself!

"Ohhhh. I get it," Sara thought, as the light began to dawn. "Even though my mind 'knows' that lettuce is better for me than chips, I really do sometimes get a certain comfort from the crunchy munch of the chip. There is something about eating chips that fills another need for me. Until I find a different solution, I'm going to keep getting drawn back into eating them. I can work with that. But I'm not getting a clear answer now because there's a conflict built into my question!"

Principle #2: Look for conflicts built in to the questions you ask. Sara went outside for a minute. She decided to clear her mind with a little walk around the parking lot. She felt the sun on her cheeks and smiled. It was a beautiful day!

Then, Sara took a deep breath and walked back into the store, this time with a different question: "Is this food healthy for me?" Now she started getting some clearer answers. Sara didn't buy anything on that trip -- it was part of the deal she'd struck with herself. But she was happy to know she had a brand new strategy!

Here's a strategy you can use to check yourself on the question you're asking. Write your question down on a piece of paper. The very act of writing your question down causes you to focus it more carefully. With some questions, you might even try writing a few possible answers. That way, you can see if the type of answer you get is the type of answer you're looking for. If not, then adjust the question a little further.

You can find the answer to nearly any predicament by asking the right questions! It's ok to try out different variations. Before long, you'll find yourself tapped in to a most resourceful stream of insight!

The Difference Between Soul and Spirit

Soul is something entirely different than spirit. Soul is of manifested matter. Spirit is not. Spirit is not able to be caught and scientifically documented whereas soul is and will be in the future. Soul is the tiny spark of electrical energy that enters the body as the thought form. It is at the center of ethereal matter; it is a small "wisp of cloud" (the ethereal matter) that has an infinitesimal pinprick of electricity embedded in it.

This wisp of cloud, the soul, takes up residence in whatever chakra has been determined that the soul wants to work and express through in that life. It stays in the ethereal body in that chakra's energy until the combining of the soul and personality takes place. At that time it enters physical matter and is embedded in the physical organ that relates to the chakra that was chosen. This soul then permeates the brain with messages, sending them through the nervous system to the brain where they are then processed and used by the brain to determine action on the physical plane.

Ethereal matter is something that cannot be captured and held in the hand. It is made of ether which is atmosphere in a high energy field, a rarefied atmosphere, perhaps, would be a better way to put it. Your ethereal body surrounds your physical form. It displaces the solid atmosphere around your body with a thinner, finer substance of higher vibrations. These higher vibrations reflect the prismatic colors in a different way than ordinary atmosphere does. This is exactly the same thing as a rainbow. Perhaps this is the best description that could be given of ethereal matter, a rainbow. A rainbow is something you can see and are familiar with, but you know that you can never touch it and you also know that it is real because you can see it. Some people can see this field around matter such as the physical body. Know you then that this is what the mind is, the ethereal substance around the physical organ called the brain. The personality is built on top of the mind as an even lighter ethereal matter. The two become blended eventually but they are still ethereal matter. They never manifest in physical matter.

The soul is an ally, if you will, of the physical body, a bridging element between physical evolution and divine evolution or exoteric and esoteric evolution. Soul is the carry-over part of the original spark, the part that fires the engine, the tiny piece of nuclear energy sitting in the middle of the furnace that all has formed around. It is embedded in the emotional body.

The amount of influence the soul in incarnation has on the development of the personality depends on two factors. One is the genetic stock the physical form is from and the other is the spiritual evolution of the incarnating entity. Those in the higher planes have been experimenting with letting the more evolved souls enter a more highly refined physical form. They are now beginning to work with the idea that perhaps this is not the right approach and that the more highly evolved souls should enter the more animalistic forms. The souls that would take on an incarnation such as this would earn "extra credit" as far as their own growth.

This was what took place before Atlantis was destroyed. Some souls volunteered to enter leaving half of themselves out of incarnation to determine if more strictly male qualities in a male form and female qualities in a female form worked better than having asexual souls enter single-sexed bodies. It was found to work better and all of human creation was restructured. Those in the higher planes are trying to determine if we are at another such milestone in the ongoing evolutionary progress of humanity.

It depends on the combination of two factors. A highly refined physical form coupled with a highly evolved soul would have much influence over the day to day activities. An animalistic form would usually be entered by one less evolved and there would be very little control. The implications are quite obvious and perhaps you can see the basis for the thinking of those in the higher planes as to having the more evolved souls enter the more animalistic forms. In the beginning there were no controls over what piece of the divine spark entered what particular animal form. This changed at the time of Atlantis and the entering of bodies started being regulated. Now perhaps it is time for another more tightly controlled regulation to come into effect.

Your soul in incarnation has knowledge of the goals you set up for this life, which karma (guilt over past actions) you wanted to erase, and what lessons you wished to learn as far as attitudes or behavior. Your soul knows itself and knows what its shortcomings are and what its strengths are. These strengths are the knowledge you have gained in previous incarnations that you chose to bring into this lifetime to help with the lessons and goals of this life. The soul on the inner planes knows all this.

Both halves of the soul, the one in incarnation and the one remaining on the inner planes, have total complete knowledge of the path of progress that should be taken by souls in their spiritual quest. They have knowledge of how the akashic records work; they have knowledge of future stages of progress; they have knowledge of past evolutionary gains by all kingdoms. There is not much they do not know about the spiritual life. What they do not know are the lessons that need to be learned. These are how to combine physical matter with these spiritual truths and bring this knowledge back to the inner planes. This will help form a more highly evolved soul that will experience all that the Creator can experience on this planet before he moves on. You see, all sparks that fell must all evolve back up to be one with the Creator God before any can move on. Therefore one of the overlying goals for all is to help everyone else in their evolutionary growth so that everyone can move on together.

Tearing Down the Fences of Our Mind

The true fourth dimension is like a "halo" around the planet for all to aspire to. This would be to reach the purity and cleanliness, mentally, of fourth dimensional thinking processes. People must synthesize their lower nature with their higher divine self before they can enter the fourth dimension because none of the lower nature traits and attitudes will be allowed in this fourth dimension. This will mean breaking old patterns and replacing them with new, a tremendously difficult thing to accomplish. But know that you will always have help and support from those in the higher realms in your efforts to implement the truths that you have gained.

You must realize that you are facing a very difficult transition changing from third dimensional consciousness to fourth. It takes much perseverance, and obviously a soul commitment, to stand firm against the tremendous pull that society has to "suck" you into the established ways of living your life. This pull is very hard to swim uphill against and most can't accomplish it due, I suppose mostly, to fear of being an outcast from the "tribe." Isn't this a throwback to the days of early man? Are things really much different now than they were then? Perhaps they are on a more civilized basis, but the result of societal patterns is still much the same. They tie up the minds of many that could be free to wonder and grow and evolve more rapidly. It, the establishment, uses fear of ostracism to hold us inside the fences of our mind.

The present time can be considered a "grace period" for all to eliminate these fences that not only separate your creative, intelligent and spiritual mind levels from your physical life, but also hold you separate from the rest of humanity. These fences must come down in all areas. Now is the time.

Ways of bringing this tearing down of fences into being are many. I have already mentioned the benefits of a creative, artistic release for all. Other ways would be to read a book that is "out of the norm" for you to read. Set a goal of perhaps one "odd" book every two months or so. Another way would be to buy an article of clothing that is not your normal way of dressing. Perhaps you will feel self-conscious and uncomfortable in it, but force yourself to wear it. This will be breaking fences.

Additional ways would be to cook and eat one different dish a month. Make a party out of it. Perhaps you won't like it, but picture the fence crumbling and make yourself eat it. Go barefoot out to the mailbox once a week if you always wear shoes. Try a new way of fixing your hair, or a new brand of toothpaste or vitamins.

The worst thing you can do for the health of your body is to become set in your ways and get stuck in the same old patterns. You need to become interested and involved in other cultures than your own. This will broaden your mind more quickly than anything else I can think of. You will soon discover that the way you deem best for all to aspire to live their lives, is perhaps considered an atrocious way to those from other countries. This will have the effect of loosening the hold that the animal-based brain ego has on everyone. This applies to all countries, not just ours, although our standard of living is much more pleasant than most others. This should make us more obligated to want to share ideas with those less fortunate.

Set aside one evening a week, or every payday, for an evening of enlightenment in some form or other on a new subject. Attend a lecture about growing rice in rice paddies in China, for instance. Do it by means of TV or videos if necessary, but do it! Broaden your horizons in any way possible! Use your mind!

I would like to explain the functions of the brain and show how the move is made from third dimensional thinking to fourth. Until now we have only been aware of the difference in the functions between the right side of the brain and the left. It is now time to become aware of the different functions of the lower and the higher mind in conjunction with the right and left sides of the brain. Each side has an upper and lower division.

The brain has four sections with three levels each. Each of the three levels are then subdivided into twelve divisions. The first section, belonging to physical body functions, is the lower left and is made up of levels, 1-2-3. The second section, the emotional body section, is the lower right brain and consists of levels 4-5-6. Levels 7-8-9 make up the mental body section, the upper left section of the brain. The fourth section, belonging to spiritual body functions, is made up of levels 10-11-12 in the upper right part of the brain. Therefore, I'm talking about twelve levels of the human mind. Each level then has twelve subdivisions. The progress must be made by all in the same manner, left to right on the lower. and left to right on the higher.

There really are fences in our mind that must be torn down. They are in ethereal matter in the form of membranes separating each of the four sections of the brain and smaller membranes separating the three levels in each section. If you were aware of what was happening you could recognize when these membranes broke. It would be more difficult to know when the smaller ones broke, but the breaking of the larger membranes between sections would be felt as a severe headache or some other form of discomfort.

All through my life I would periodically get a "zing" that went through my head. It's hard to describe; it was sort of like a buzz but at the same time like an electrical shock. I'm sure now as I look back, that these were the breaking of smaller membranes.

I also distinctly remember when I broke over into the second section of the brain, from the third dimension to the fourth. I had an awful, horrible headache, worse than any I'd ever had in my life.

The actual scientific meaning of the word enlightenment means the breaking of the membrane between each section of the brain. When one is totally enlightened, each section of the brain is open to stretching with new thought. Any section that has not had the membrane broken will not be open to this stretching. It is held in tight constriction and cannot allow any new thoughts to enter.

Personal Values, Beliefs, Fears Series - Has Amnesia Been One of Your Recent Health Issues?

Looking at the relationship between your personal life issues and health challenges is a wonderful mind body spirit approach you can use to build a deeper relationship with yourself and to improve your health on an ongoing basis.

You can do this by examining the personal values, beliefs, fears and habitual thought and feeling patterns that may underline your health challenge. Louise Hay was an early pioneer in matching different parts of the body with personal values, beliefs, fears and thoughts and feelings. Let us look at how this relates to amnesia.

Personal Values, Beliefs, Fears and 'Heal Your Body' Causes of Amnesia

Fear. Running from life. Inability to stand up for the self.

Louise Hay Mind Body Spirit Affirmations For Amnesia

Intelligence, courage and self worth are always present. It is safe to be alive.

Effects of Stress on the Body, Dimensions of Health and Wellness Tips For Amnesia

If you or someone you know has amnesia or has experienced it in the past, you can begin to explore this process by mapping out the life circumstances prior to the beginning of the amnesia experience.

From the mind body spirit perspective, habitual personal values, fears, beliefs, thought and feeling patterns set up specific energy frequencies in the body that may limit how smoothly the body's energy flows. If this is not dealt with adequately, these energy blocks can result in imbalance in the body in the form of physical, emotional and mental conditions.

Combining normal medical treatment for amnesia with holistic approaches that help you to get to the root cause helps you to not only deal with the condition itself but also builds self awareness that can last for a lifetime.

Have fun applying this holistic health approach to amnesia or any other health condition. Understanding how your attitudes, thoughts, feelings, beliefs and fears can contribute to imbalance energetically and physically helps you to shift and transform them much more effectively and powerfully. This puts you in the driver's seat to create and maintain your health for lifelong mind body and spirit balance.

Affirmations and Healing - How to Use Written Affirmations to Resolve Limiting Beliefs

Healing the body and healing the mind go together. Since health is your natural state, any departure from health means that you've gotten off track somehow. Many of these unintended slip-ups begin in the mind. Written affirmations are an effective way to identify and resolve any limiting beliefs that may be slowing down your healing process.

First of all, what is an affirmation?

An affirmation is a positive statement you can use to keep your mind focused on making your desires "firm" in the world. In other words, to solidify the ideas you hold in your mind and make them real.

There are several other beneficial effects that come from working with affirmations. Today we'll explore just one. Using affirmations to increase your awareness of limiting beliefs.

As you work intentionally with your affirmations, sometimes you'll find "bonus" beliefs that you didn't even realize were holding you back! As you become really committed to a positive life change, it's valuable to search every available nook and cranny of your mind for hidden beliefs that may detract from your success. Affirmations can help you do that.

Let's explore a 5-step process to identify and resolve hidden beliefs that may be slowing you down. Before we begin, you'll need to find a paper and pen or pencil. I like to keep a special notebook for this kind of thing, but any paper will do. Please try this the "old fashioned" way -- on paper. It seems to work better than typing.

  1. Create an affirmation statement about your positive state of health and write it down. You can start this process with any positive statement. Remember that an affirmation creates your future, so be sure and choose a statement that matches the future you desire. Write your statement in the first person, using the word "I" or your own first name.

It's best to keep things simple. Perhaps you'll start with a statement that goes something like this: "I am whole and healthy in every way!"

Draw a line down the middle of your paper to separate it into two columns. If your handwriting is larger, you may want to use two facing pages instead. In the left-hand column, write your statement.

  2. Write your statement over and over. Part of the benefit we're going after is creating a new habit for your mind. Repetition is helpful.

As you write, be sure to notice what's going on in the background of your mind. You know, that "little voice" that wants to always have the last say. If you're like most of us, shortly after you begin writing this positive statement, it's going to have something to say about it. Usually, your "little voice" starts to argue with the affirmation.

"Who are you trying to kid?" it might say. "You're overweight, you've got high blood pressure, and you're so out of shape you can't even walk up a flight of stairs."

  3. Write down everything your "little voice" says to disagree with the statement in the right-hand column. Keep writing. Affirmation on the left, little voice on the right. Keep going until your "little voice" runs out of things to say. This could take several pages!
  4. Review everything your "little voice" came up with. These are the main beliefs that limit the results you're going after. As you read over your lists, make note of any themes you notice. In our example above, the person will most likely have several entries about weight or physical condition. Pay attention to what your "voice" says, because it's most likely steering you to valuable information. Anything that shows up repeatedly deserves your attention.

Another thing to watch out for is a statement that "jolts" you. Sometimes out of the blue, you'll hear your mind say something you didn't consciously know before. It might sound something like this, "As long as you keep using food to cover up your loneliness, you're never going to be healthy."

    Whoa. Who said that?

Either way, from your "little voice's" column, pick the theme or statement that most gets your attention -- that stands out as most deserving of your attention.

  5. Now write an affirmation for that!

In our example, the person most likely already knew they were overweight and out of shape. Hearing it repeatedly from their own mind may be enough to have them realize that it's time to seriously do something about it, because that's the thing that's most in the way of their progress. If so, their next affirmation might go something like this: "I am trim and fit."

Or, perhaps that zinger about loneliness really got the person's attention. In that case, their next affirmation might go more like this: "I feel loved and comfortable just being me."

Repeat the two-column affirmation process for this next statement, too.

You can probably see that it sometimes takes more than one session to work through all the little nooks and crannies you uncover with this process. No problem. Just continue, doing a little bit each day until you feel you've gotten to the bottom of things. It's best to pick a consistent time for your self-healing work, like first thing in the morning or last thing before you go to bed.

Ultimately, you should begin to notice two things. First, you will begin to feel better. As you find and then reverse old beliefs that weighed down your mind, you should begin to feel lighter, more flexible and open, and healthier. Your spirit will be refreshed.

Second, you'll be inspired to take certain health-promoting actions. Follow the inspiration! Maybe you'd normally grab a quick burger at lunch, but one day your mind will say, "have the salad." Cool! So have the salad!

Healing occurs through a combination of renewed spirit and positive action. Writing affirmations is a great way to focus your attention where it will make the biggest difference.

Infrared Saunas - Buyer's Gude - How a Relaxed Body Equals a Relaxed Mind

Success and a relaxed body work in harmony. Get a infrared sauna to relax.

The key to your success is learning how to relax both your mind and body.

  • Learn to relax your body to quiet your mind
  • Learn to relax your body to think more clearly

Although there are countless methods to calm your mind, you can learn to calm your mind by using heat. Not just any heat but infrared heat that penetrates your facial and muscular tissue deeply. Let's see how this works in real life.

That is the secret- heat that creates a fever in your body as you sit in your infrared sauna for 21.5 minutes. The fever is nature's way to burn out toxins and pollutants deep within your fat cells. Of course, different sauna heaters are less effective if they use ceramic heaters or conventional carbon-based heaters. These conventional carbon heaters use metal heating plates which do not match your carbon-based cellular structure completely.

Why waste your money on conventional technology?

You should only own a sauna that uses carbon without any metal heating plates for your optimal detox experience. And believe me, there is a huge difference in these two kinds of technologies:

  • Metal heating panels change the way the infrared radiant energy interacts with your body.
  • Metal heating plates are conventional technology.

When you compare saunas, you want to compare their sauna heating technology:

  1. Do they use metal in their heating area?
  2. Do they use metal heating panels?

Now that you know the difference, you can select the best saunas on the Internet with confidence.
